About Broussard
From its beginnings as a horse-and-buggy community featuring large sugar cane plantations, Broussard has grown to become more of an industrial community. Today the town is home to more than 300 businesses focused on oil and gas service, food distribution, manufacturing and real estate development. Broussard is also known for its authentic Creole and Cajun food served at charming local restaurants.
History of Broussard
Founded in 1884, the city of Broussard, Louisiana was originally named Côte Gelée (Frozen Hills) because of the hilly ridge there that was covered with frost during the severe winter of 1874. The town was re-named after local merchant Valsin Broussard, who formed the first vigilante committee after his store was robbed.
About Youngsville
Youngsville is known for being a rural city that allows residents to enjoy a small-town atmosphere while still having big city amenities nearby. It’s literally the best of both worlds, with residents enjoying a contemporary lifestyle that combines rural agriculture with metro enterprise.
History of Youngsville
In the early 1800s, a small group of French Acadian farmers settled in a tiny community called Royville. By 1863, the sparse settlement had grown into a small village. In 1908, the village was incorporated, and its name was changed to Youngsville. In 1983, the village was declared a town – and in 2005, Youngsville was finally elevated to the status of city. Since then, the City of Youngsville has maintained status as the fastest growing municipality within its category in the state of Louisiana.
